Curtain-side trailers for general freight
Another of our services is curtain-side (tauliner) transport, which allows loading from the side or from the roof. It is the solution we choose when goods will not fit through the rear doors, travel on pallets, or need to be handled with a forklift from the side.
Thanks to their lower unladen weight (T.A.R.A.), these vehicles put more payload at the customer's disposal. It is a service designed for general freight, particularly useful in sectors such as manufacturing, chemicals and parcel distribution.
What is a curtain-side semi-trailer?
A curtain-side semi-trailer is a trailer with sliding curtain sides on a sturdy chassis: the sides open completely and the roof can be slid back or removed, so loading and unloading no longer depend on the rear of the vehicle.
The structure is built in steel or aluminium and the curtain is made of materials resistant to wear and weather, protecting the goods throughout the journey. Load capacity varies with the configuration, but usually ranges between 24 and 33 tonnes.
That combination of light weight and full-width access is what makes the curtain-sider a cornerstone of modern logistics: it makes better use of every trip and cuts waiting times at the loading bay.
What we carry on curtain-side trailers
The service covers different types of cargo and shipping formats depending on volume, sector and destination:
Industrial or consumer products on pallets, with direct side access for forklifts at origin and destination.
Long or bulky items that need to be loaded through the roof or the side rather than the rear.
Capital goods, construction materials and packaged chemical products that do not require controlled temperature.
Coverage across mainland Spain with efficient routes and optimised delivery times.
Regular connections with Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and France, for both export and import.
Full truckload, part load or groupage, tailored to the real volume of your shipment.
Well-secured cargo arrives intact
Side access makes work at the loading bay easier, but it calls for a strict securing protocol: weight distribution, lashing and curtain tensioning determine both safety on the road and the condition in which the goods arrive.
At Doseguer we follow the same procedure on every shipment, with qualified staff and a full vehicle check before departure.

Frequently asked questions
What is a curtain-side trailer?
It is a type of road freight trailer with sliding curtain sides, which makes loading and unloading from either side much easier. It is particularly useful for palletised goods and high-volume cargo.
How many axles does a curtain-sider have?
Usually two or three, depending on the design and load capacity. Two-axle units handle lighter loads, while three-axle units are built for heavy cargo and offer greater stability on the road.
How is cargo secured on a curtain-side trailer?
The weight is distributed evenly across the trailer and secured with straps, chains and anti-slip materials. The side curtains are then checked to make sure they are closed and properly tensioned, and the vehicle is inspected before departure.
How much does curtain-side transport cost?
It depends on the distance, the volume and weight of the cargo, the type of access required and how urgent the shipment is. Get in touch and we will prepare a tailored quote at no obligation.
